Background

The Business Travel People Awards recognise outstanding individuals and teams within and across all aspects of the supplier element of corporate business travel management whose professionalism and business excellence make them stand out from their industry peers.

Unicorn were engaged for the 4th year to deliver the awards programme. 

  • Maintain the event legacy, and increase demand year on year within the Business Travel industry.

  • Create an event experience that both celebrates the winners but is an enjoyable and exciting day for all attendees.

  • Source and manage entertainment that encourages networking and conversation.

  • Create a legacy for the event through responsible business activations and local student talent involvement.

  • Manage all production and show-calling for the live awards ceremony. 

  • Produce content for use post-event including interview footage and social activation short videos.

Delivery

The Awards ceremony took place at the Leonardo Royal Hotel, London Tower Bridge.

  • We were tasked with creating an environment where industry peers could network and have a good time in celebration of the outstanding achievements from the past year.

  • With a limited budget, we created a fully branded set and stage for the awards ceremony in keeping with The Business Travel People Awards brand guidelines.

  • We managed the full event logistics for over 400 attendees, including a welcome drinks reception with live music, a three-course sit-down lunch during the awards ceremony and a   drinks reception which allowed guests to celebrate their wins and network with their peers.

  • We managed all content creation, in line with the event design, including supplier briefings, speaker rehearsals, and slide creation.

  • The client asked us to create a fun surprise and delight moment for the winners. We asked a caricature artist to create individual portraits of the 2019 winners holding their awards on the night. These were handed to the winners at the end of the ceremony in addition to their awards.

Outcome

We were able to create a fun and relaxed environment, where guests could network and interact with their industry peers. 

  • The format of the event, with the two drinks reception either side of the awards ceremony, allowed enough time for networking and sharing industry experiences. 

  • The awards ceremony showcased the talent in the industry and gave recognition where it was due, ensuring the legacy for the event continues to grow into the future. 

  • Guests provided great feedback following the event and most said they would attend again.
